At Orkney Young Person’s Supported Accommodation Service (YPSAS) we provide support for young people experiencing homelessness. Our aim is to provide a safe and secure environment so we can assist those we support in their journey through homelessness into permeant accommodation.
We have two supported accommodation locations, one in Kirkwall and the other is in Stromness, both of which are funded through the Orkney Islands Council. All our referrals come through the Orkney Islands Council Housing Service.
Our dedicated team works closely with those in our accommodation and tailor our project to suit the individual needs of them. We want to help you acquire practical skills, such as those needed to maintain a permeant tenancy, employment and training for finding the work you want. As well as, offering counselling and mental health support to ensure you can make the most of yourself and your future. We do this because we want to address those problems that may have initially contributed to a person becoming homeless, issues such as: relationship break down, drugs or alcohol misuse, mental ill health or struggles with debt management.
