Glasgow Reach Out supports people affected by homelessness by giving them the opportunity to experience independent living, and to acquire the skills and confidence in running their own accommodation.
Those we work with are provided with a fully furnished flat and the responsibility of running it. As this can be a daunting prospect for many we meet regularly with tenants and support them to manage their tenancy.
The staff team provide practical assistance at the start of the tenancy with issues such as benefits and utility provision, and we also signpost tenants towards all the local facilities that may be of use to them.
We work closely with other providers to ensure that our those we work with can access the appropriate support and are given every opportunity to progress in their life.
“Staff are helping me plan for the future. I hate to think where I’d be without the support they’ve gave me.”
As part of the Glasgow Reach Out service we also provide accommodation and support to people being released from Low Moss and Greenock Prisons. Our staff team work with the people prior to liberation, meet them at the point that they are liberated, and continue with strong support in their accommodation.
Our properties are leased through partnership with a number of Housing Associations and are located in several different areas of Glasgow.
Referrals to the service are made from Glasgow City Council, with referrals for the Low Moss and Greenock being made in partnership with the PSP team at Low Moss and Greenock Prison Throughcare Team.
