Do you want to make positive changes in your life and the lives of young people this New Year? Our brilliant intandem Mentoring Network is expanding and we need you to volunteer!
“The best thing about it for me is getting the trust of the young person you’re working with and building a friendship with them.”
We all know what an impact a young persons experiences can have when they’re growing up. Most people can pinpoint someone who, in their formative years, provided a positive influence, helping them choose a particular path in life.
We will now be providing community-based mentoring for children and young people ages 8-14 from Glasgow and North Lanarkshire, who are living away from home in kinship or residential care. If you live in the area and can give 1-3 hours a week the we would love to hear from you.
At intandem we match young people with trained volunteers who support them to create a positive, trusting, supportive and secure relationship. We want to build long lasting relationships as we know from our years of experience that these can make real and lasting change.
intandem mentoring is an award winning project, and you will receive peer support and training from mentors with many years experience.
“I was a little apprehensive at first but the training we were given made a big difference”
So, if you are a friendly, outgoing, and reliable person who enjoy working with young people, and want to get 2020 off to the most positive start then our mentor Katy has some advice for you:
“Don’t over think it – just do it! It’s fun and really rewarding.”
