Service Manager

What is your role?
I am currently the manager for People First, the first Personal Transitions Service in Scotland. People First is a highly personalised, strength based, and person led approach to tackling homelessness and other tough times.

What are the responsibilities?
A key part of my role is developing and maintaining effective working relationships with partner organisations from the statutory, voluntary, and business sector. At People First we use our voice with partner organisations to revise the way we work to end homelessness in Scotland. Ypeople and People First are creating a system which is person led, not system led. One that ensures the focus is always with the people we work with.

Why I chose Ypeople?
A friend of mine started as a relief worker with Ypeople and I decided I also wanted to try it out. That was 17 years ago, and I’ve never looked back. I love the Values and how innovative Ypeople is, moving with the times to best deliver services for people living in Scotland.

What have I learned?
Ypeople is a loyal organisation who cares and supports their employees, they really are guided by their values. There is excellent training to develop staff, I have been lucky enough to complete two SVQ 4’s and hope to complete my PTS Qualification soon.
