As a Volunteer Befriender you will be part of a shared vision of ending homelessness in Glasgow.
Ypeople is one of the partners that has joined together to make the aspirations of the Alliance a reality. Together, with our friends at Aspire we are running the Volunteer Befriender programme – bringing our expertise in mentoring and training to the table to support you!
So what is The Glasgow Alliance?
A city-wide movement of change, the Alliance will transform Glasgow’s approach to homelessness. Together, a group of non-profit organisations (including Ypeople) and people who have first-hand experience of homelessness have come together to create radical system change.
Although it’s early days for The Alliance, there’s lots of activity already happening, you can follow the latest on Twitter @gla_alliance
Be part of the change – Become a Volunteer Befriender
We are recruiting Volunteer Befrienders who can spend a couple of hours each week or month to build a trusting relationship with someone who is experiencing homelessness.
Being someone to chat to and having the opportunity to take part in social activities will help people feel less isolated and feel part of community. The time you spend with them will help them to make their own choices and get back in control of their lives.
We will match you with someone who shares similar interests and you will receive regular training and be supported by one of our Volunteer Befriending Co-ordinators. There may be the chance to gain a recognised qualification in the future too.
