Ypeople Reachout East Dunbartonshire

The East Dunbartonshire Reachout Service operates in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council, and is based in the Council’s Housing Office in Kirkintilloch,

The service provides person centred outreach housing support to individuals and families within the East Dunbartonshire area who have either been homeless or are at threat of homelessness, and living in their own or temporary ( including bed and Breakfast ) accommodation.
This service aims to reduce the levels of homelessness and repeat homelessness, and enable individuals to live independently in permanent accommodation.
The service extends beyond the provision of basic housing support or tenancy sustainment and aims to improve the quality of life for service users.
The service is delivered through engagement with the service user to develop and implement a person centred support plan which focuses on 3 support areas of :-
(a) Preparing for a tenancy
(b) Tenancy Set up
(c) Tenancy sustainment
And to enable the service user to link in with health, education and employment services and to participate in their local community.

Type of support
The support that the Reachout Service can provide a service user is as follows:
• Tenancy set up support, including access to furniture, claiming Housing Benefit, establishing utilities, budgeting, and tenancy responsibilities
• Support to maximise income
• Support and advice, on the safety, security and general maintenance of the property.
• Signposting to other appropriate agencies such as health services, money advice services and other support agencies.
• Signposting to access education and employment opportunities
• General advice and liaising on any housing or social issues that may affect the sustainability of the tenancy.

Referrals to the Reachout service are made through the Council’s homeless team at 11-17 Kerr St, Kirkintilloch.
Individuals can self-refer to the service by phoning the EDC homelessness office and asking for a referral to be made, 0141 578 2133.
